Sheraton Kauai Resort

Sheraton Kauai Resort is located on a prime section of Kauai’s prized Poipu Beach, one of Kauai’s best swimming beaches. While this hotel, or at least the original section, was built 40 years ago, the advantage is that Sheraton selected perhaps the best location on all of Poipu Beach for its eventual 20 acre resort. And yes, Sheraton has renovated and updated many times including most recently in 2006. Another advantage for this Starwood family member is that we work directly and closely with the same contact at the Westin Princeville Resort, who manages sales for both resorts. This again is another advantage for ULTIMATE CRUISE & VACATION clients in many fashions.

While the beach has already been selected as the Best Beach in the World by Dr. Beach, and is the main attraction here, the resort itself places a close second. Sheraton Kauai Resort embraces the traditional Hawaiian Aloha spirit. From the openness of the resort and its outstanding views from The Shell and The Point, you can appreciate your tropical surroundings from most of the public area.

Sheraton Kauai Resort on Poipu is also well located. For starters you are already on one of the world’s best beaches. Port Allen where you will begin your Na Pali Coast cruise or other water excursions is nearby. Fabulous Waimea Canyon is within a 30 minute drive, as is the airport and the town and shops of Lihue. Of course you will be on the south end of the Garden Isle while Princeville, Hanalei Bay, the Lighthouse and other north end attractions are on the opposite end. However, the point of going to an island as spectacular as Kauai is to get out and experience it. Kauai is very easy to travel within and the north shore is really less than 90 highly scenic minutes away. It is a must for a day trip.

The layout at the 394 room Sheraton Kauai Resort is well thought out. The Garden Wing which has vibrant tropical landscaping sits quietly behind the Beach and Ocean Wings. None of the sections are built higher than the tallest coconut tree by law. Wherever you stay you can have access to connecting rooms. All buildings are easily accessible. Each room has among other valuable amenities a 32-inch flat screen TV and private lanai (balcony).

The full compliment of guest services and facilities at Sheraton Kauai Resort include two swimming pools, spa and fitness center, tennis courts, a children’s center, of course fabulous Poipu Beach and lots of activities and equipment rental options for the beach. Golf courses, shops and Allerton Gardens are all nearby.

One aspect of Sheraton Kauai Resort that truly stands out is the cuisine. After experiencing breakfast at several resorts on Kauai, Jay French graded the breakfast at The Shell here in the Sheraton as the best on island. He felt reassured when only a week later Eric, one of Justin’s best friends called it the best breakfast he ever had. So we agree.

There is something for everybody in terms of food. There’s a wide variety of American, Hawaiian and International options each with spectacular Pacific Ocean views. Sheraton Kauai Resort is also home to the only Oceanside Luau on Kauai. So you won’t have to go far to experience Hawaii’s most traditional and famous dining experience with a spectacular view to boot. There are also a couple of great cocktail and appetizer options which we will go into detail within this review. Of course you want to take part in the Mai Tai Reception with Hawaiian entertainment and dancing every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Sheraton Kauai Resort is well deserving of its 4 Star rating (on a scale of 5). For Kauai bound vacationers this represents a terrific value in the mid to upper mid range of hotels, assuring you of good quality accommodations and better than average food on one of the greatest and most famous beaches in the world. Not all 4 Star hotels on Kauai are equal, by far. This is worth our recommendation. And the ULTIMATE CRUISE & VACATION relationship with the staff at Sheraton Kauai Resort has done wonders for many of our mutual guests.
