Grand Hyatt Kauai

The Grand Hyatt Kauai is one of the most luxurious resort on Kauai, Hawaii. ULTIMATE CRUISE & VACATION considers Grand Hyatt Kauai paradise within paradise. Apparently we are not alone with that praise as Conde Naste once again selected Grand Hyatt Kauai for its 2013 Gold List, earning the soughtafter Platinum Status. The beautifully manicured lush floral grounds with peaceful lagoons, cascading waterfalls, and garden spa set on the shores of famous Shipwreck Beach resides within the paradise known as Kauai. You can’t beat this winning parlay.

Sure Grand Hyatt Kauai is loaded with upscale amenities and wonderful accommodations but the real story here is the relaxed tropical setting amid luxurious surroundings. From the floral gardens to the lanai accommodations, and from the exceptional garden spa to koi-filled lagoon side restaurants, Grand Hyatt Kauai exemplifies the Aloha Spirit like no other resort on Kauai.

Grand Hyatt Kauai has two lobby areas, the Poipu Wing and the Shipwreck Wing which is a bit more family oriented. Be sure to read our detailed report about the 602 deluxe guest rooms, all with flat screen TV’s, lanais, iPod docks, marble baths, bathrobes and much more. The resort offers a plethora of pools and lagoons as well as a great stretch of beach. The onsite Poipu Bay Golf Course has been home to the PGA Grand Slam of Golf from 1994-2006 hosting Greg Norman and Tiger Woods among others. The restaurants and lounges are among the most exhilarating and scenic anywhere.

Grand Hyatt Kauai has some of the finest collection of upscale clothing, art and specialty shops on Kauai. This Camp Hyatt offers kids aged 3 to 12 a whole lot of fun, much of it including local Hawaiian traditions and activities. The Anara Spa is home to one of the most complete, authentic and ascetically pleasing spas in Hawaii. The resort even hosts a sensational Luau.

We rate Grand Hyatt Kauai even above the Grand Hyatt in Maui – and that’s saying something. Watch our personal video, view our personal photo’s, and read our exclusive review below. ULTIMATE CRUISE & VACATION has been there and done it – more than once. Learn for yourself why we recommend this resort so strongly, and then experience for yourself why our guests here are so persistent with their high praise. POOLS & BEACHES:

The pools and lagoons at Grand Hyatt Kauai flow throughout the resort among the amazing garden, waterfalls and tropical foliage.

Freshwater Pools

"River pools" wind through waterfalls and grottos into pools perfect for swimming and playing a game of water volleyball. Check out the 150-foot slide that lands you with a refreshing splash into the crystal clear waters. Sun lit decks woven throughout the river-like pools offer spectacular places to take in the beautiful Hawaiian scenery.

Salt Water Lagoons

Grand Hyatt Kauai has a unique meandering, expansive salt-water lagoon. The large lagoon finds a number of uses from scuba lessons to floating. You can even rent a two-person kayak for an exciting, family activity or take a snorkeling and diving lesson from the experienced staff.

White Sand Beach

This is a very nice though not spectacular beach. While it is near to Poipu it is not Poipu. It is great for early morning dune walks, lounging on the Pacific or viewing stunning sunsets. Adjacent to the Resort, Shipwreck Public Beach, is a lovely stretch of sand great for walking and sunbathing. Shipwreck Beach is the site of the cliff Harrison Ford and Anne Heche jumped from during Six Days/Seven Nights.

GOLF:

Poipu Bay Golf Course The majestic oceanside 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr offers some of the most spectacular scenery you will witness on a golf course. Sure, we know there are others; we’ve been to most of them. This one certainly ranks up there.

This course was played by the likes of Tiger Woods and Greg Norman during PGA Grand Slam of Golf from 1994 – 2006. Poipu Bay Golf Course offers some exceptional amenities, such as:

• In-cart satellite navigation system that tells exact distance to the hole and pin placement, shows graphic depictions of each hole and course layout, course rules and pro tips

• On-course beverage cart

• Refreshing citrus-scented chilled towels

• Golf pros offering daily clinics and video instruction

• Group tournaments

• Youth programs

• Poipu Bay Grill and Bar - the perfect 19th hole rendezvous

• Golf Shop at Poipu Bay - rated one of the finest in America, with a full line of Kaua'i resort logo wear

• Golf club rentals - If you arrive without your clubs, you may find the quality of our rentals a cut above those in your bag

• Club storage and locker facilities Of course the Pro Shop has an extensive selection of clubs, hats, shoes, sports wear and logo items.

Food/Drink

Restaurants

Grand Hyatt Kauai’s spectacular resort settings create inspiring backdrops for whatever delectable cuisine you select. Choose from a traditional luau; dine on fresh seafood while overlooking a waterfall and a koi-filled pond; have a romantic dinner at the award winning Italian restaurant; or view the spectacular golf course over a meal. And remember, ULTIMATE CRUISE & VACATION can make dinner reservations in advance for you if you wish.

Tidepools

We have each fallen in love with Tidepools at first sight. They feature contemporary Hawaiian cuisine served in a unique Hawaiian setting. Open air thatched huts with waterfalls and koi-filled lagoons create a serene tropical scene. Tidepools will satisfy you with dishes such as Sashimi of Hamachi and Ahi. They offer extensive wine and dessert lists.

Lounges / Bars

Stevenson's Library

Just like Tidepools is our favorite Grand Hyatt Kauai restaurant, Stevenson’s Library is our favorite lounge. In all of our travels we have never encountered anything quite like it. It’s that unique. The warm woods and intimate seating areas of this classic lounge create an ultra relaxed atmosphere. Belly up to the 27-foot, impressively hand crafted koa wood bar or select a table in the cozy booked lined room. Stevenson’s Library is reminiscent of a Victorian-era gentlemen’s club with an extensive selection of Cognac and Port and plenty of entertainment. Enjoy a game of pool, backgammon or chess, watch NHL, NBA playoffs and major league baseball at the same time, as Jay did on multiple TV’s, or just relax to the soothing sounds of the local jazz performers. Stevenson’s also offers a full menu of freshly prepared Sushi, served Friday through Monday.

Hours:

Feel the ocean breezes from this open air, peaceful lounge. Each morning, they serve fresh pastries, juice and coffee, ideal to enjoy while reading the paper. In the afternoon, Seaview offers early cocktails and a selection of pupu (appetizers). As day turns to evening, be sure to visit Seaview for one of the most stunning sunsets you’ll see, accompanied by a traditional torch lighting ceremony and live music, typically an acoustic guitar player performing relaxing popular Hawaiian tunes.
