Kauai Vacations, Resorts & Tours

Kauai has the most dramatic scenery of all the Hawaiian Islands, yet with only a fraction of the crowds competing for its attention. ULTIMATE CRUISE & VACATION loves the panoramic views that are as stunning as they are diverse. No wonder more than 60 movies (The Descendants, Six Days Seven Nights, Jurassic Park, South Pacific, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and many more) plus the current series Hawaii Five-O have been filmed on Kauai.

While Po’ipu Beach is the most famous on Kauai, the North Shore has countless seldom occupied beautiful beaches. Hanalei Bay was named #1 Beach in the World by Dr. Beach in 2009. Po'ipu received that honor previously and once is the limit. The North shore is also home to Kauai’s newest luxury resort,  The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas , which Justin stayed at only days after its grand opening. The light house on Kilauea Point is also a must see.

Other must see attractions on Kauai are Allerton Garden; Kee Beach, part of the Napali Coast State Park for snorkeling and hiking; the scenic Wailua River for kayaking; Fern Grotto; and the many amazing waterfalls.

We can’t think of any scenery as breathtaking as the combination of Waimea Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific” and the Napali Coast. Kauai is still a quiet island, easy to get around in. ULTIMATE CRUISE & VACATION, the Certified Kauai Destination Specialists we are, know where the best accommodations in Kauai are to meet your particular needs and budget. Plus we will provide you with all the insider info to impress you with Kauai just as much as we are!

Na Pali Coast

You must get on the water and sail along the Na Pali coast. Go during the day and include snorkel stops, or take a sunset cruise and stay on the craft to simply marvel at the stunning cliffs, secluded beaches, dolphins, turtles, and waterfalls. First you view the hills, which gradually incline into sheer cliffs of up to 4,000 feet. This is one of the most exhilarating and breathtaking excursion you can ever take - anywhere. Prices: from $153 per person

Waimea Canyon Tour

They call this the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific” for good reason. You will see much of the same characteristics here that you see in Arizona. Beside the crags, buttes and gorges you expect to see, there are over 40 miles of hiking trails. Ultimately, at the end of the road you will peer over the cliff down over the Kalalau Valley where the fabled Na Pali coast rises out of the Pacific Ocean. This is an easy drive with four or five worthwhile scenic view opp’s. Drive yourself or take a tour.

Po’ipu Beach

The Travel Channel once called Po’ipu Beach “America’s Best Beach.” A number of hotels call it home. It truly is a beautiful beach offering a bit of everything. The surf is gentle enough to learn to surf or snorkel, and swimming conditions are idyllic. These waters are well populated with tropical fish. Families can picnic at the park. Just down the beach a bit to the east is Shipwreck Beach, a rocky coastline with a few nature trails. Further up the coast is Spouting Horn, a lava tube which forces spumes of surf up to 50 feet high. As if you needed more – the endangered monk seals call Po’ipu Beach home also.

Helicopter Tour

There may not be a more scenic locale to enjoy breathtaking sites from a helicopter than Kauai. Take it from us. These tours will take you above the Waimea Canyon - Hawaii's own Grand Canyon, the cliffs of Mount Waialeale, numerous cascading waterfalls, pass over famous movie sites, the spectacular Na Pali coast, and sites you would never access by land. Prices: from $199 per person.

Movie Site Excursion

Ever wonder where the unearthly appearing sites are that you see in movies? Many - many, are from right here on Kauai. And they are all over the island. This tour allows you to walk in the steps on famous actors and see the same scenery they did while filming, such as John Wayne (Donovan's Reef), Harrison Ford (Six Days Seven Nights and Raiders of the Lost Ark), Nicolas Cage (Honeymoon in Vegas), Elvis Presley (Blue Hawaii), and so many others.

Zip-Line, Waterfall & Pond Jump

We experienced this fantstic combination excursion of zip-lining through the forest canopy high above rivers and waterfalls. Afterward we went to a nearby private land where we hiked, swam and swung by rope into a deep-water pond at the base of a mountain stream. The swinging rope and pond can be seen in Six Days Seven Nights. There are many zip-line options on Kauai. Prices: from $130.

Note: In our humble opinion zip-lining is Hawaii, especially Kauai, exceeds the experience in Mexico or the Caribbean. The elevation, mountains, rivers, waterfalls, etc. make a big difference.

Wailua River Secret Falls Kayak & Hike

Paddle through a sacred valley once reserved for Hawaii's royalty as you guide past the island's rich history and legends. Then, hike through the rainforest to a hidden waterfall where you can take a refreshing dip. Prices: from $49.

Smith's Tropical Lu'au

Stroll through the meandering pathways of Smith's Tropical Gardens on your way to a delicious traditional Hawaiian buffet and witness Kauai's most spectacular lu'au in a torch-lit lagoon amphitheater. Prices: from $88.
