Hawaii, The Big Island Vacations

Hawaii, The Big Island is still growing with spewing molten lava creating new land. The Big Island is divided by the amazing Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (a must do attraction) with the drier Kona side (famous for Kona Coffee) to the west and the tropical Hilo side to the east. The rest of The Big Island features dramatic coasts, a volcanic desert, abundant waterfalls and deep valleys.

The Big Island offers a diversified group of resorts, shopping opp's on both sides, unusually unique scenery, and a chance to go for a horseback or wagon ride and soak in the American frontier spirit - Hawaiian-style at the Parker Ranch.

The 266 miles (and still growing) of spectacular coastline display lava in part, and beaches of white, gold, green and black sands. The Big Island's most recent Destination Specialist, Justin French, has intense inspection and training experience with the Big Island Visitors Bureau and is excited to share his experience with you.

The Kohala Coast with both rugged lava fields and superb white-sand beaches (yes, the Big Island does have some) is an area of gorgeous contrasts. Many of the island's resorts are located here, along with superb beaches and one of the largest petroglyph fields in Hawaii.

Akaka Falls State Park is an absolute "must-see" on the Big Island. Located on the winward side, near Hilo you will experience some of Hawaii's most beautiful waterfalls, including the namesake Akaka Falls which plunges over 440 feet into a stream-eroded gorge. We highly recommend the Akaka Falls Loop trail, less than a half-mile long walk which leads to the overlook for the fall. Park admission is FREE. Do it.

Then Waikoloa resort area is located on the Big Island's northwestern side. You golfers will love the numerous world-class courses that abound throughout the upscale resorts. The Waikoloa area features beautiful crescent-shaped beaches with excellent snorkeling opportunities.

Keauhou, a small village on the western side of the island was the birthplace of King Kamehameha. It is also home to several important cultural and historical landmarks such as Keauhou Bay and the Keauhou Holua Slide, plus two golf courses and a resort area on a beautiful, sheltered bay.

Kona, is home of course to the famous Kona Coffee. This region contains important historical landmarks like the Hulihee Palace and Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park, along with native wildlife, great shopping and a rugged lava-rock coastline. You can visit the site where the Westerners first landed, learn about Hawaiian history and even spot sea turtles.

ULTIMATE CRUISE & VACATION loves Hawaii, and The Big Island has some of the most unique attractions in all of the Hawaiian islands. Call us for the best deals, most value and the ultimate Big Island exxperience.
